What did you receive last Valentine’s? Was it a dozen roses, a box of chocolates, or a bottle of wine?

Some people believe that Valentine’s Day have been hyped too much that observing it becomes a commercial event. Although it is true that giving gifts during this date may be considered a splurge, Valentine’s Day is one day in a year when a couple can just focus on their relationship… and themselves.

One of the gifts that would be perfect for Valentine’s (as well as any other occasion) are gift baskets. For couples, a wine gift basket is ideal because the couple can share the gift in an intimate setting.

There are different wine baskets that are perfect for this occasion. Wine.com offers a variety of packages perfect for any couple with assorted tastes. The Hickory Farms Valentine Gift Set is perfect for those who enjoy a lazy night savoring the Beef Summer Sausage (a signature deli of Hickory Farms) with sea salt and olive oil crackers, three cheese and onion wedge, Spanish manzanilla olives, spicy cocktail almonds, sweet and spicy mustard and a bottle of rich Cabernet Sauvignon.

For those couples who want to end the night with something sweet and utterly romantic, a Chocovine Say it With Chocolate Wine Gift Basket is a must-try. An assortment of Ghirardelli Dark and Milk Chocolate Caramel Filled Squares, cookies, wafer rolls, chocolate fudge and pretzels, paired with a Chocovine (a fine French Cabernet combined with a rich dark chocolate from Holland).

Thought wines with cheeses and chocolates seem perfect as a Valentine gift, a wine gift basket as gifts are actually ideal all year round. Most sites accept orders online so buying the perfect gift for any occasion will no longer be a problem.

Parents and children who have gotten used to sleeping beside each other would eventually go through separation anxiety especially when the kid decides she needs her own private space. Personally, I have mixed emotions about that. I am both excited and worried of what will happen when that day finally comes.

As early as now, though, I am trying to prepare myself. In fact, I have already started choosing the ideal bed for my kid. If, like me, you’re also planning to buy the perfect bed for your child, the first thing you need to consider is the length and size of the bed. Keep in mind that a child doesn’t stay little forever. Eventually, she will become too big for her bed.

Image from Google

Therefore, the best course of action is to buy and adjustable bed or one that has detachable railings that you can remove when your tot is big enough to sleep without these. Kids, whether girl or boy, can be rowdy at times; thus, it’s best to choose beds that are sturdy and strong enough to handle all kinds of pressure. Most importantly, choose a bed that’s made of high-quality materials to ensure its longevity.

Everybody knows caviar. It doesn’t necessarily mean everyone has tasted them but caviar is almost synonymous to living a rich and famous lifestyle. But for those who aren’t very familiar with the different types of caviar, it should be noted that the taste differ significantly. The best is still said to be the beluga caviar, harvested from the Caspian Sea in Russia.

It is said that the beluga caviar is such a rare delicacy that it can cost up to thousands per ounce because the Beluga Sturgeon is considered a critically endangered species. The Beluga Sturgeon produces the largest of eggs which makes the delicate texture of the caviar exquisite. Although pricey, a lot of people want a taste of this caviar simply because this is what made the “caviar” famous. It’s rich, smooth flavor is a must-try for anyone who wants the real experience of caviar.

So what will complete an ultimate beluga caviar experience. Experts say that high quality grade caviar such as this need not be complemented with anything else. One should savor the taste on its own, using a caviar spoon made out of mother of pearl. Perfect serving per person is at most 2 ounces, depending if the caviar will be complemented with toast points or crackers.

Beluga Caviar can also be enjoyed with sour cream or creme fresche, while others prefer it with minced flat-leaf parsley. To wash it down, champagne is preferred followed by a simple fruit such as a pear so as not to cut down on the richness in taste of the caviar.

Since time immemorial, wedding cakes have been a vital part of weddings. In fact, the simple act of slicing a piece of the wedding cake is believed to be a symbol of unity, and it also serves as a manifestation of the couple’s commitment to each other, which begins on that special day onwards.

Nowadays, couples opt for wedding cake ideas that are conceived out of the box. Today’s couples are veering away from tradition and incorporating fun and creativity into their wedding cakes. There are quite a number of simple yet creative ideas for wedding cakes.

Image from Google

While some stick to conventional multi-tiered fondant cakes with floral accents, majority of couples go for cupcake towers for their weddings. As the name suggests, this type of “cake” is composed of many individual cupcakes fashioned into one big wedding cake. You may choose to have cupcake liners in the color of your motif or you may decide to have a small cake placed on top of the “tower” where you may place the cake topper. Heck, even cake toppers these days are unique as you can see below. This type of wedding cake is a lot cheaper than traditional ones, that’s why a lot of practical couples choose this over the latter.

Ever since I became a stay-at-home mom, I’ve always had a non-working Valentine. Non-working in a sense that I didn’t have to go to work because I wasn’t working, and because we didn’t have the usual Valentine because hubby always had to work. But it’s all good because we’d always say that everyday is Valentine’s day.

But what I miss the most are the events we used to have at work during these “occasions”. Aside from the usual roses of course for random employees and the games and short programs that we prepare, it’s the special things that the company gives out that gets us most excited. We always try to guess what new “thing” they will be giving out every year.

There were gift certificates for overnight stays at hotels, or tickets to a Valentine concert or show, or even gift certificates for dinner dates at posh restaurants. What I won’t forget though was when we were in charge of the surprise “thing” and we were looking for suppliers for Personalised Corporate Chocolates. It would have been a big hit if we found one on time but unfortunately we couldn’t have it going before Valentine’s.

But since we now have the contact person for such, I wonder if they finally got to use Corporate Chocolates recently? Maybe I should ask my former office mates to see if they did, and how they liked it. I’m sure it was a hit!
